Whats in a name?

Whats in a name? For most, its not much, but for the spiritually discerning, a name brings a heritage, an inheritance and more importantly a perception. People experience life through their perception of reality. Reality becomes exactly what we perceive it is going to be.

Let me give you an example. If I invite you to a church, and the name of the church has the word "Baptist" in it, you automatically assume their doctrine will be calvinist, their worship will be hymnal based and the sermon will be around 22 minutes. None of this may be accurate, but the name suggests a label and in a labeled based society, labels construct   our reality.

When I consider planting a new church, the biggest decision (after praying, hearing from heaven) is choosing the name of the new plant. While I am writing this, this is the very issue I am dealing with today. naming the new plant.

While I can define the culture of the new plant, have a core group for the new plant, have the bylaws, worship style etc...the name eludes me as per usual. Often members ask me, but pastor, whats in a name? My answer? "EVERYTHING". The name defines the whole movement. Every new church plant is a impetus to begin the next movement.

Would you like to be apart of this next movement? You can send me some suggestions for a name, or play a more active part in the planting process. Email me for details, as I seldom respond to comments. radrev at mail.com

If heaven had a call center

Imagine if there was a Call Center in heaven? It would probably go something like this.

Call answered. Recorded voice says the follow: "Please listen carefully as our menu options have recently changed".

Press 1 for Spanish.
Press 2 for English.
Press 3 for tongues.
Press 4 for confessions.
Press 5 to speak to an operator in Asia.
Press 6 if you this is an emergency.
Press 7 for healing.
Press 8 for a miracle.
Press 9 for an operator.

Of course, you press 9, and the following voice comes on. "Please note that we record all conversations for training purposes and to hold against you in case of a dispute, law suit or just because."

Then you hear this wonderful choir music playing and you hold for the next available operator. Expected time to hold is only 46 minutes, but rest assured that YOUR call is very important to us here in downtown heaven.

Finally, you get a real live person. Unfortunately they are unable to assist with your specific model of prayer request, but they will make a note of this in your file. No, this is a call center based in Asia, and as such are unable to get Peter on the line, or any other supervisor, as this is a 'call center'. No, there is no supervisor available, and yes they do understand how you feel, but in all reality take a number.

Please do have a nice day, and is there anything else they can help you with?

I am so blessed to be able to come boldly into the Throne of Grace and not have to deal with any underlings. In prayer, I go to the TOP. I speak directly to God, get a direct response, and never have to ask for the same thing again.

Emerson Law

Strangely enough I learnt about the so called Emerson Law today. In Bible speak, thats the law of giving and receiving. Weird how the world has a 'law' for what Christians should have been applying for years. The biggest challenge to this 'law' working for you is the patience.

Galatians 6 records that you will reap if you do not grow weary in doing 'good'. Patience is more than a virtue, it causes you to manifest your harvest, if you are able to continue to give. icing and receiving is a biblical concept that has been misused, abused and taught as a get rich quick scheme, but in fact it is a 'biblical law' that does require time, patience and  yes that dreaded confession thing.

Now I know you probably think I have gone to the other side now. But, bible truth is bible truth. Confession added to patience a good dash of faith and loads of love does lead to manifestation if you have been consistently giving.

Give and it will be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together will man give unto your bosom, and your cup will runneth over. Just add patience
